WEDDING STEP CARD

Another step card idea!  You can tell they are a favourite as they always look like you are extremely clever and of course the card is already made for you so all you have to do is to  decorate it.
In this case the theme is wedding (just in case you needed this explanation!) and grey and olive green has been used to pick up the colours in the decorations. The darker grey colour helps to make it pop and with it recessed in the back, also gives the card some depth. The dots across the front of the card comes from a length of ribbon.

BUTTERFLY STEP CARD

Not sure who is responsible for this creation which is a step card using  one of Regal Craft Cards step card bases which has been covered with a burgundy print. The back panel has a butterfly print paper which the individual butterflies have been cut out from. A bit of string and a bit of bling and a greeting and hey presto a great card for any occasion.

Tania's clock step card

Tania has made this step card using Regal's pre-made card  base. By using browns and blacks this has given the card a masculine feel but if you used pastels for example, it would be a totally different look. The black triangle on the left has been embossed with a pattern that goes well with the background paper which is from the Ultimate Crafts Evening Cocktail 6 x 6 pad. She has used a nesting die to create the circles for both the back panel and the forward decoration. Not sure where the clock face image came from but maybe a stamp or from the Kaiser antiques sticker sheet.
 What can you do when you run out of room to fit the greeting? Now was the Best wishes deliberately stuck on that way or not? Either way it looks good and gives a quirky twist to the card! It's finished off with four sticker dots and borders for a very pleasing effect!

Sharon has used decorative papers, fussy cut elements, lace and stickers to make this sweet baby card.

The base is a side stepper card from Regal Craft Cards (ST1) which provides a great starting point to decorate for any occasion.

These cards look quite complicated but fortunately aren't as difficult as they look because almost all the components are available aready cut.

The red stepper cards are from Regal Craft Cards (STE5).  (They are also available in white).  The silver tree is also from there, as are the clear Christmas Greetings, which in the first example, has been stuck onto acetate, and in the second onto silver card, so they "pop" off the card.  The photos really don't do justice to the three dimensional nature of these cards.

I was away when these cards were made, but I know that Marilyn made the example with the tree so I'm guessing the first example, featuring the deer and tree die (Paper Rose) is her work too?

A CALENDAR FOR DAD

FATHER'S DAY CALENDAR

Here's an idea for a father's day card that will last for over a year.
(You can, of course adapt it for any occasion).

Just start with a centre stepper card (STE1), decorate it with co ordinating papers (these were from the small pad in the Kaiser High Tide collection) and add a 2018 calendar and you're done!  All these things are currently available from Regal Craft Cards, including the double-sided tape to stick it all together!

TIP - when you're fussy cutting around objects with fine detail, such as the wheel, leave a small border - it saves having to deal with all the little inny-outy bits and looks good too!

ROMANTIC CALENDAR CARD

Not one, not two but four cards today!  Three of them, of course are more of Sandra Bell's beautiful stitched designs - with a geometric theme this time.  Sandra's use of colour is, as usual, quite striking, and she has used square cards from Regal Craft Cards as a base.  These designs could clearly be adapted for most occasions,

The "other" card this week is also from Regal (XSTE1 - Centre Stepper), as is the little calendar (which as you can see, is for next year).  The card has been decorated with patterned paper and little grey Couture Creations pearls, a topper from Darkroom Direct and some handmade paper flowers with die-cut flourishes to finish.  This would be great for an anniversary, or just to sit on your own desk at home!

Unfortunately neither Sparklelight nor 3D pictures photograph easily, and I really haven't done justice to Sharon's card.

The picture sheet is called "Nostalgic Childhood (SLDC 48574) and is from Regal Craft Cards, as is the white smooth step base card (XST1)

Sharon has added words from a Kaiser Collectables pack and a "Happy Birthday" silver outline sticker as well as decorative papers and a paper daisy with an adhesive pearl centre.

This would make a lovely Mother's Day card too!

Trudy Meijer has used one of Regal's stepper cards as a base for this fashion-themed work of art.  Its the sort of card which you can display all year round.

Trudy makes fabulous collage cards and this example is no exception.

Layered papers, fussy-cut images, lace, feathers, tassels and more feature on this card.  Its important to note how Trudy has retained a consistent colour scheme and theme so that the card works very well as a whole.

STEPPER CARD IN KRAFT AND WHITE

Kaiser made the paper, Regal made the base card, but Janet added the creativity to make this elegant floral stepper card.

Using the paper as as guide, she has centred pre-made paper flowers onto the bottom border.  The cut-out doiley doubles as a background for the large white flower.  The greeting also comes from the paper collection.  The only addition is some narrow cotton lace.

Lace can be a bit tricky to attach but Janet has neatly finished her embellishment by securing the ends underneath the paper topping the card.

I really love the  simple colour combination of natural and white - the contrast serves both well.

POSTSCRIPT...Janet says, that nice as the card is, it wasn't her who made it....Tania says it wasn't her.....its a mystery.......if anyone wants to "own" the card, let me know and I'll do an update...

Another really cute card from Trudy this week.

Regal make these stepper cards, which come with envelopes, so all that you need to do is add the decoration.

In this case, Trudy has covered the front with patterned paper, stamped and coloured images on the sides, and added a sparklelight 3D picture (also available from Regal) as a feature in the middle.

Baby cards are often kept for a long time, so its worth making that little bit of extra effort

We have another of Trudy Meijer's cute cards from a demo she did for Regal Craft Cards a while ago.

This is a true collage card, incorporating everything from pebbles and shells to nets.

The base card is ST1 - Regal's side-stepper card, which is already cut and creased so that you can go quickly to the "fun" bit of decorating without all the measuring, scoring and cutting.

Trudy has applied glue to the front and covered it in real sand for her background.  She's added some stamped features and a LaLaLand stamp, coloured with Kaiser fusion pens and fussy cut.  On the back panel, is some patterned vellum, (made by embossing) attached with white split pins, with layers of paper underneath to be the sea.

Doesn't it look cute?

If you're going to make a special card for someone, it's nice to think that it might have a life beyond a couple of days on show on the sideboard.  If you include one of Regal's little calendars on one of their pre-cut and scored stepper cards, the chances of a long-life on display are greatly increased.

I've just added some blue and gold paper and border stickers to the card which features an Egyption-themed  Sparklelight 3D, once again from Regal Craft Cards!

The best part of all is that its really easy to make but looks quite impressive!!

This card illustrates just how effective the clever use of a single piece of paper can be.  Trudy has used a Regal stepper card base, and covered the front with blue paper.  She has added a piece of patterned paper to the back panel.  Next, she has  fussy cut individual pieces from the paper, and stuck them on with dimensional tape, matching them to the same pattern underneath, for a 3D effect.

The finished card would be great for anyone who likes bright colours, young or old, male or female!

Yes....it is getting to that time of year.  It's really not too early to get started on Christmas cards so (if I'm able) I'll try to put up a special post between now and the day each Wednesday for folks that are looking for a bit of inspiration.

Regal has made 5 special Robin Red Cards with Christmas in mind - stepper, gatefold, singlefold, horizontal fold and swing cards.

Tania has done a great job with the new red stepper card, decorating it with patterned and patterned paper (inked on the edges), and some die-cuts and paper flowers.
The "Merry Christmas" greeting is an outline sticker coloured with alcohol markers to match in with the red, green and white colour scheme.

We have another of Trudy Meijer's creations for you this week.  This would make a lovely card for a little girl's birthday.

Trudy has used one of Regal's stepper card bases, and decorated it with a variety of papers and embellishments, including fussy-cut shapes, ric-rac and stickers.  Notice the cute little La-La Land Marci stamp which Trudy has coloured using alcohol markers, and the big white organza bow that adds that special finishing touch.

Even although this card looks quite complicated, everything is tied together with careful colour choice (pinks, lime green and white), and the use of the pre-made base.  Have a rummage in your craft box and see what you can find!

CENTRE STEP BIRTHDAY CARD

Sharon made this cute card using Regal's centre step card as a base.  (They also make a side stepper card).  You can, of course measure, cut and fold your own cards, but its so much easier to buy a pack pre-cut and scored (with envelopes to fit) and proceed straight to the fun bit!

Sharon has covered the card with a paper from Kaiser (note how she's made the best of it being two sided at the front), and embellished with wooden buttons, split pins and gold peel-off stickers.  This would make a lovely card for a young girl - either to give or for her to make for her friends.

Regal has two pre-made stepper cards, and both of them can be decorated in so many ways!

Marilyn has used the newer centre step card to make this cool card which would particularly suit pre-teen boys -  a group for which cards can be a bit of a challenge.

The skateboarder is from a Sparklelight 3D sheet, the paper decoration and signs were fussy cut from Kaiser paper and the card has been finished with a Happy Birthday sticker.

Red and black aren't traditional tropical colours but they work together beautifully in this card that Marilyn has made using Regal's new white centre stepper card as a base.

She has fussy cut hibiscus flowers from a piece of patterned Kaiser paper, and coated them with dimensional magic to create a high gloss raised finished.  The front of the card has been covered in black and the green (red's comPlementary colour) of the leaves and the covering of the back panel, gives a sense of extra dimension.

Marilyn has extended the red, black and white scheme to her greeting which she has made using a peel-off sticker on a tag, tied to the side panel of the card.  All in all, this appears to be a very dimensional card - but one which folds nice and flat for posting!!

This is an example of Regal's newest stepper card - this one had the largest panel in the middle rather than at the side, but its still large enough to take a small Regal calendar (CAP1).

I've used Kaiser papers to make a bit of bunting and add a little decoration, but clearly there are lots of other design options and I'll be showing a few on the blog over the next couple of weeks.  The main point is that all the hard work measuring, cutting and folding is already done - all you need to do is decorate!

Although this example has this year's calendar on it, we do already have the small and medium 2016 calendar pads on line and in the shop for those folks who like to get a really early start!!!
