ELEPHANT CARD

Marilyn has made a quick but effective card featuring an image cut from a piece of paper from the "Threatened" series by Fabscraps.

You don't need a lot of supplies to make this card, just a selection of co ordinated papers, some adhesive pearls, double-sided tape and some scissors.

We sometimes get a big fixated on die-cutting, special inks and suchlike, and its a good reminder that design is the major factor in any card!  Why not sit around and play with some scrap paper, and come up with some new ideas.

Oh, and of course, I should have mentioned that underneath the layers is a Regal Craft base card!

A few years ago "Punch Art" was all the go.  Now that we have access to relatively low-cost nesting dies, its fun to revisit the craft and scale it up to card size.

This lion has been made with twelve circles of various sizes (see if you can find them all, if you're keen), a large scallop circle and a heart for the nose.

All you need, apart from dies, is a base card from Regal Craft Cards, some paper (around the 140gsm weight works well), adhesive, and a white pen if you want to add some highlights to the eyes.  i pencilled in some spots and whiskers too.

This card is not exactly the same as others I've seen on-line, but I certainly acknowledge inspiration from a number of lovely lions constructed by others as punchart.  There are lots of designs that can be adapted so have a browse and perhaps you might be inspired too!  Little people would probably love this bold style of card but there's scope to use it (or other animals) as a sporting mascot card for a team supporter or as a card suited to a particular person e.g. assemble different shapes to make a specific type of dog etc.

PAPER PIECED STAMPED CARD

I'm doing a stamping demo for Regal on March 20th, so I probably should leave this card until then but I couldn't wait to play with my lovely set of Darkroom Door stamps.

I've kept the colours very simple, but stamped the hammer and saw with black ink onto both grey and yellow paper, the tape measure just onto yellow, and the other things just onto grey.  I'v then cut out the handles of the saw and hammer from the yellow and stuck them onto the grey, before fussy cutting around the whole lot.  I've added a little bit of detail with a silver pen, and assembled the lot on embossed card stuck to a black Regal base.

I didn't have a suitable stamp at hand, so I added a peel off sticker as a greeting - I'm fairly sure the stamp would have looked a lot better in this context.

This is another of the cards I made for the "Quilt Cards" demo a few months back.  It is so much easier to make than it looks.

I punched nine two inch circles from paper that was green on one side and white on the other, and simply folded the edges in so that the circle became a square.  When you put them next to each other you end up with the penal design!

After sticking them down onto white card, I trimmed it down to leave a white border.  Instead of just mounting this on a green backing, I cut strips of green and mitred the corners to look a bit more quilt-like, and added double "stitching" using a Kaiser die.

The base card is a black square single fold (SPL6) from Regal Craft Cards.  Because of the colours, this would do just as well for men and women, and as its a simple design, for all occasions too!  If you feel especially keen you can stick different coloured squares in the middle of the circles before you fold the edges!

I've used one of Regal's scallop-edged cards as a base for this little card.  "Sue" is a traditional applique pattern - you'll find lots of variations on-line and in quilting books.  I just cut the pieces out of paper rather than fabric (much easier!!) and assembled them on an embossed background, stuck to some patterned paper.  All that remained was to add a diecut greeting and a little bow!

When most of the attention is on a new baby, its important to let the other children in the family know that they're not forgotten.

A new great-nephew inspired this card, which wasn't quick to make, but certainly isn't difficult.

The base is a single fold white card from Regal Craft Cards and the background is Kaiser paper.
The little boy is a LalaLand stamp that has been stamped onto lots of different coloured papers, then cut out and re-assembled on a stamped base (i.e. paper pieced).  The very fine detail (the star on his constume, belt buckle and detail on boots) has been added with silver pen, and a little bit of colour to the face (lips and cheek) added with red pencil.  Finally just a little white dot using a gel pen has been put in the eyes to add a little "life."  Finishing details come from a bit silver star (from Regal) and some stickers - star borders and "Brother" (a gold sticker coloured over with a black marker pen).

PINK PIG SQUARES CARD

All the October Kaiser release products have just arrived and will be in the shop tomorrow!  There is a lovely summery floral set, a more subdued vintage selection and of course a Christmas release too.
We also have Christmas papers from Graphic45 and Bo Bunny, as well as the much-awaited "Raining Cats and Dogs" papers and more!!!!!
As I'm doing a special Tuesday posting to let you know about that, I thought I'd add in a card from Marilyn's recent "Squares" demo.

LITTLE PINK PIG CARD

This is a great example of how a bit of imagination means that even if you don't have every new craft product you can still create some terrific cards.  In this case its just a combination of squares on one of Regal's Natural square base cards, with a bit of coated wire (coloured pink with a marker pen) twisted to make a tail.  How clever is that!!

"JUST BECAUSE" SHOE CARD

How cool is this lovely card that Kay Beams made and allowed us to share on the blog?!
She has used black card and scrapbooking papers to make the shoe and  a hole punch for the top border.
The card is finished with  greeting stamped on white card and backed with a scalloped circle cut with either a die or hole punch from black card.

FLOWER BARROW BEST WISHES

 How cute is this card by Kay Beams, another of our lovely customers who have agreed to share some of their cards.  Kay has used one of Regal's square cards as a base, cutting the front panel back slightly with decorative scissors to reveal a strip of patterned paper underneath.  The front panel was then run through a die-cutting machine using a Swiss Dots folder.  She has paper pieced the barrow and added various embellishments.  The pretty little flowers are made by winding embroidery thread!
