TEA TIME CUPCAKE

This is a tasty card put together by Sharon which would make a great invitation for a tea party or maybe a teeenager's birthday. The card is a pre-cut cupcake from the Regal Craft range so all you need do is decorate in your favourite colours. Sharon has added a bit of bling in the form of Kindy Glitz and some sticker circles and pearls.

TEA TIME CUP AND SAUCER

This is another of Sharon's  { tea time} cards. Made from the ready made tea cup cards available at Regal Craft Cards. She has used pretty papers to decorate the cup  and plainer paper for the base. Accents are border stickers and a flower to lift the design. Sharon has then slit the base and folded the card so that it sits up. In this instance the card can'not be flattened for postage but what a great idea for a place setting at a party.

Janet's philosophy is "too many flowers are never enough". This is one of Regal Craft's standard pre- cutout cards and instead of having it so that the card opens as per usual Janet has put  a band around the whole card to create a stand and holds it all together. Using a set of flower dies and adding a bit of bling to the centres  to finish off.
 This card is pretty impressive.

TRAMMED

We know you are always looking for that perfect man's card so here are a couple of ideas provided by Heather. The 3d images are from the Harafeld collection. Not only does this make very nice cards but being the local, i.e Launceston tram sheds, it could be a lovely souvenir card as well.
Heather has stretched the use of this sheet by making several cards from the same sheet.
The main card has a lovely grey patterned sheet as the background which is overlaid with a strip of striped ribbon  then a  die cut rectangle in black and another in red then the tram image which has been cut from the background and placed in the centre. A piece of ribbon runs down through the middle behind. A few die cut cogs are used as accents. The Regal shop has currently got metal cogs in so these would service very well and add some depth.
The second card has also used a nesting frame die to form the card itself and then just added layers in red to match the tram.
The third card just uses the left over greeting and some fancy paper and you still have a striking and effective card

Sharon made this easy but effective Christmas wrap by cutting one of Regal's Cupcake Cards (XSNO3) in half and adding an middle panel to make the base and the top tie.    It would make the perfect wrap for sweets or a cupcake or even a small box of special tea.  You could put the gift in a clear bag (also available from Regal), punch a hole in the top and tie it in the centre for additional security.

Sharon has covered the bottom part of the cupcake with scrapbooking paper, added red mirror card to the cherry and used peel-off stickers to decorate the top, to finish her cheery christmas pudding card

People are often under the impression that shaped cards are really difficult, and some of them are - not this one though!

All I've done is take a standard  Regal single fold card, and covered the middle of the front with some striped paper and the top and bottom with tan Bazzill.  The next step (with the card closed) is to pencil in some straight lines the same distance in from either side.  I've then used that ever useful papercrafting tool, a 20c piece to round the edges.  The actual measurements don't matter too much, you're only aiming at a cotton reely kind of shape with enough card still attached at the fold to hold it all together and a space big enough in the middle to hold the ribbon or trim you want to include.  Just make sure its symmetrical.

If you do your cutting (still with the card folded). just inside the pencil lines, you won't even have to rub them out.  You can add an optional hole in the middle at the top if you want to.

The next step depends on whether or not you want to include a small gift.  If not, and you used sideways stripy paper in the middle of the front, you're more or less done.  If you'd like to give some ribbons, laces or other trims to a crafty friend (or someone little who likes ribbons in their hair), secure one end at the base, and then carefully wrap the trim around the front of the card.  Secure with a pearl-headed pin (you might want to add a little dab of glue to the end if the sharp end might be a problem.  I've added a little spool tag.

Decorate the inside too if you want.

Janet has used a scallop edged single fold card from Regal Craft Cards and some paper from Couture Creations to make this quick but effective card in non-traditional colours.

The idea could easily be adapted to your own favourite colour scheme!

CHRISTMAS BOOK CARD

Regal already have pre-made book-shaped cards so if you want to do something a little different for Christmas this year you can buy a pack and get straight to the fun bit of decorating it!

I've taken the photo at a funny angle so rest-assured it doesn't really do justice to Sharon's pretty card,  (It really does look like a book when closed!)

Sharon has used patterned papers, a die-cut robin and a border sticker to decorate the front of the card, and simply drawn pages using a pencil and ruler to suggest pages on the inside.

Its as nice quick card to make but very effective!!

Marilyn has found a quick way to make a handbag card.

She has covered one of Regal Craft Card's scallop edged cards with patterned paper, added a wooden button, and used a necklace chain as a handle.

If you make one of these cards, you could leave it so that you can open it out to a 2 1/2 panel card (This would be great if you wanted to have extra decoration inside, or had a lot to say, or wanted to use the form as an invitation.)

Another alternative would be to add strips of double-sided tape to the inside edge of the striped panel so that the top of the card opens to reveal a pocket - perfect for small presents such as paper flowers, pearls or gift cards.

Janet has combined papers from Kaiser's Chanteuse collection, with Regal's scallop-edge cards (SCE1) to make this beautiful card.   Janet has used a white base, but the cards are also available in ivory.

Subtle inking enhances the various elements, and embellishments - small rhinestones and paper flowers have been carefully placed to enhance the printed design.

Its a little hard to see in the picture, but Janet has coloured a greeting sticker with a permanant marker that matches the pinks of the paper and attached it to a pale green background.  More decorative paper adorns the middle of the card.

This would be a lovely design for a special birthday or even a wedding.

This is a fun card that can be as easy or difficult as you want it to be.  Its also quite a good card to make if you want to keep children entertained with a Christmas craft project.

Basically, take one of Regal's square white cards, Add a triangle of card for the roof and then go wild with the decoration!!!  I've kept this example fairly low key, using scrapbooking papers, a punched border, and white heart and greeting stickers, but you could use rhinestones, stamps, punched shapes or whatever you have at hand.

The gingerbread man was cut by folding a scrap of paper in half and cutting free hand until one turned out well enough to use as a template for the "real thing", but you could also trace around a biscuit cutter, use a stamp, or download something from the net.  The white detail and border was added the old-fashioned way with a white gel pen.
If you didn't want a Christmassy theme, try adding turrets for a fairy castle or fort, or just make "a house"..........if you are doing it as a project with the kids, no doubt they'll have good ideas....but actually its rather a fun idea for us grown ups too.....perhaps as a "New Home" card?

I had a request for a couple of ideas using Regal's book cards  - so here they are.

The "pages" on the first have been added with an insert with lines drawn in gold pen.  In the second example stickers have been stuck straight onto the backing.

The 50th birthday card features a 3D sparklelight picture and lots of stickers, the Mother's day card is more of a collage using paterned paper, lace, inked edges,  a hole punched layered flower, little heart-shaped gold split pins etc....and stickers.

These are both very speedy examples, but given a bit more time, I can imagine how lovely they would look with vintage papers and stamping.  The book cards are also popular for folk wanting a masculine card.  The subject can obviously be modified to suit the interests and hobbies of the recieptient.

Lorraine has a real talent for producing elegant cards and this is no exception.  She has used a base from Regal for the main body of the fan, but has decorated the edge with "Cuttlebugged" burgundy card, edged with a lacy sticker.

At the bottom she has cleverly used one of the push-outs from the Regal fan aperture cards, inked the edged and decorated it with some hand-rolled roses with gold and white leaves.

White satin ribbons complete the project.

Regal have just released a brand new product - a fan kit which comes with five individual pieces to decorate as well as a  post screw to fix them together (so that the fan can fold up).  This would make a pretty table decoration for a wedding, an extra special card or a little mini scrapbook. This product is now on their website.  Its always fun to play with a new release.  I made the model on the left using Graphic45 papers, Lorraine did the fab version in the middle with cuttlebugged pieces and handmade rolled roses, and Tania made the fan to the right using Kaiser paper and lots of embellishments.!!

Lorraine (who is a great source of inspiration for all of us) has come up with this alternative way to present Regal's cup and saucer card.


She has simply cut along the sides of the base of the cup so that the saucer can be folded flat.  It can then be glued or attached with a peg (as in the photo) or paperclip if the whole card has to be flat for an envelope. I haven't tried but I guess you could also use a split pin, punch a couple of little holes and tie the pieces together or just add a piece of doublesided tape with the backing attached so that the recipient can assemble it themselves.  Then, of course, there's Velcro and.......OK probably enough suggestions for now.........The main idea is Lorraine's sit up card, and what a good idea it is!

Maz has decorated Regal's cup and saucer card with some very pretty papers and a tag plus some punched decorations and stickers to make a really cute Christmas Card.  You could add a message inside E.g. "Sending a cup of love this Christmas" or even include a teabag ("Have a cup of tea with me this Christmas") etc.

This is the third in the series of newly released shaped cards from Regal.  Tania had decorated it with some pretty scrapbooking papers and a selection of paper flowers.  Now there's a whole tea party happening in the Regal card world - teapots, cupcakes and cups!!

CUPCAKE CARDS

Here are a couple of examples of Regal's new shaped card - the cupcake card....or the Christmas pud' card, if you like.  Maz made the latter using embossed card for the base and Snowtex for the "iced" top.

I made the other one....the top was supposed to look as if it had sprinkles but looks a bit more as if it has measles!!!! If I had my time again I'd make fewer but bigger spots with KindiGlitz.  I cut a second top and fixed it to the card with foam tape for added dimension.

These cards are fun to decorate.  They  are now on the Regal website.

TEAPOT CARDS - new product from Regal

This card is the very newest release from Regal......and I mean VERY new, it only came down to the shop late yesterday.  Tania and I did have a little time beforehand to play........and these are the results.  The cards hinge at the top, and are made from smooth white cardstock so they are easy to colour or stamp if you don't want to cover them with decorative papers.  We'll try and get a few more examples done in the coming weeks.
