FRIDAY UPDATE

Rectangle slotted cards, Natural gift/greeting cards and some Floral Sparklelight stickers are all on offer as weekly specials over at the Regal website this week (www.regalcraftcards.com.au).   Unfortunately we had to cancel this week's scrapbooking class due to illness. Best wishes to Susan for a speedy return to good health.

We can now take bookings for our June card class - Easel cards with Roma Bunyard.  Come and see me in the shop or call Regal for more details and/or to book.  At the time of writing (Tuesday) we had one spot left for May's class with Lynne Armstrong (notebooks and gift card) but this may be gone by now....if you are especially interested we can put you on a waiting list - folks often do have to cancel so a space may become available.

VINTAGE DOILY CARD

VINTAGE DOILY CARD
This is an easy layered card with a vintage feel.  The base is a Regal square singlefold card. The topper is made as one unit.  Begin with a white doily rubbed over with vintage photo distress ink.  On top of that is a doily stamped with white ink on caramel card and "fussy cut", followed by two hand crocheted doilies of decreasing size (you can buy these if you prefer).  Finally a button is sewn to the middle and the whole unit is attached with double sided tape fixed onto the first  doily underneath the location of the stamped layer so that the adhesive won't be seen through the holes in the doiley.  A small greeting could easily be added to the bottom right hand corner.

FOUR LOVELY LADIES

FOUR VARIATIONS USING ONE STAMP
Trudy Meijer has used Regal's square cards (gold, black and white) and a variety of stickers, diecuts and trims to create four lovely cards, all using the same stamp.  (She thinks the stamp may be from Do Crafts).  She has heat embossed a couple of the images, and coloured one (possibly with Tombow pens?)

This is a great example of how, even when retaining a similar theme and using the same stamp, Trudy has created four totally different, but equally impressive cards.

60TH BIRTHDAY CARD

60TH BIRTHDAY REPURPOSED TEXT CARD
The "Words and Cards" demo went well, and I'm already making plans for next time around.
This is one of the cards featured.  I've used Couture Creations dies, some black card and pages from an old paperback for the main features.  The black lines on the diecut are twine, and those around the edge of the card are stickers (yes......I think they could be a bit straighter too!!), as is the greeting.  The 60 was cut using a Cuttlebug cut and emboss die coloured in with a black marker pen, and Kaiser pearls finish off the corners.  Everything was assembled on one of Regal's square white singlefold cards.

FRIDAY UPDATE

I have a confession to make....I'm actually writing this Friday update on Tuesday so I dare not say that the Words and Cards demo that happened yesterday to you (and the day after tomorrow for me) went fabulously because it seems a bit too much like tempting fate.......however, I will be posting a few of the cards from the demo in the coming few weeks so please stop by, have a look, and make your own judgement!

Our next demo will be on Monday May 13th.  Anna Wilson will be making some absolutely gorgeous  collage cards featuring stamps from Darkroom Door.  Anna will also be following up with a class later on in the year so if you want actually try the technique for yourself, but with her guidance the opportunity will be there.

We still have a couple of spots left in the scrapbooking class with Susan Longman on the April 24th, and already have a few bookings for Lynne Armstrong's notebook and card class for May 10th.  Pop into the shop or give us a call if you would like more information about these classes or the demos.

Oh yes...I'd better mention Regal's weekly specials ....a choice of four this week - two sparklelight panels both of which would be great for bloke's cards, some gift cards made from  a really good quality lightly textured white card, and the ever-popular square natural cards.  There are some real bargains to be had, so check out the "Specials" section of the website for more details.

PARCHMENT TRELLIS

PARCHMENT TRELLIS
Another lovely parchment craft card from Lyn Kirkham......Need I say more?

Regal have lots of books and tools if you are interested in taking up this challenging, but impressive craft.

Marlene Exton, who taught a beginners class in March, will be having a "next steps" class later on in the year.  Its too early to book just now, but I will let you know when its open.

In the meantime we'll just have to content ourselves with marvelling over Lyn's amazing work!

CHESS CARD

CHESS THEMED CARD
Marilyn has put our square hole punch to good use in making this chess-themed card.

Black and white squares have been mounted (evenly spaced) onto a Botany background, then onto a slightly bigger piece of green card, and finally onto a Regal square singlefold black card.

The peel-off greetings have been added onto squares and fixed on with mounting tape to add dimension.

A chess piece charm has been added to the centre.

This style could be adapted with stamps, stickers or patterned papers in many themes.
