FRIDAY UPDATE

There are some new dies from Paper Roses in this week at Regal as well as a restock of Kaiser mists and in pads and more!  Don't forget that the first demo for the year - Cards for Special Occasions with Marty Munro is just two weeks away so mark it on your calendar!

Oh yes, and some lovely 12 x 12 papers (3 different ranges - beach, lavender and vintage tea party) have just arrived from South African company Fabscraps - they really are worth checking out!

BLUE FLORAL GET WELL SOON CARD

GET WELL SOON
Marilyn has assembled an interesting variety of materials to make this simple but effective get well card.

The main focus is a Sparklelight sticker of cornflowers - much prettier in reality that on the screen.  Both it, and the Japanese-style background paper are mounted on blue card.

Marilyn has coloured some peel off stickers with a permanent marker so that they match the theme, and distributed them over two tags, tied together with blue and white twine.

A folded white doily under the sticker co ordinates with the Regal base card and the tags as well as leading the eye across the card.

Once again, this is a great design to adapt with your own themes and materials.

CUTE BIRD THANKYOU CARD

A QUICK THANK YOU CARD
First up a confession.....Sharon's paper background was straight - its my dodgy photography that makes it look otherwise......however....I'm sure you get the general idea.

The paper is topped with a greeting (of the sort that comes in the back of Kaiser's little paper pads), and the main attraction - a simple bird, cut from subtly patterned paper, with a white wing and button, threaded with a silver tie.

I don't know whether or not Sharon used a template for the bird, but as she's a confident cutter she might have just cut it freehand....but I would lightly draw out a shape on the back of the paper, and have an eraser at hand for adjustments until I liked what I saw, and then cut.  You could no doubt find a bird template on line, but I think this might be overkill, and you run the risk of not only making more work for yourself, but losing the handmade appeal of your product.  As a plain single fold card from Regal has been used as the base.

As you can see, if you changed the greeting, this card could easily be adapted for almost any occasion.

BIRTHDAY CARDS (WITH CALENDAR)

YELLOW 3DROSE CALENDAR CARD
Both of these cards are essentially made in the same way.

The base is a pre-made sparkelight card with an defined oval area for decoration.  The roses are both off the same 3D sheet (SLDC48748), which is die-cut so there's no need for fiddly cutting.

The yellow rose border inside the calendar card (the date pad is from Regal - CAP1 is the code) is also on the sheet.  The other card has an apricot insert.  I've used foam dots to add height to the layers.

These are among the best sort of cards - lots of impact with not so very much effort!  You could have both of them finished inside 20 minutes.

FRIDAY UPDATE

Well another new year is well under way.  I know that a lot of better organized people than me use the holiday season (which it still is for some people) to make all their cards for the year.  Regal can obviously help out with all you need in that regard.

If inspiration is what you need then Regal have their first free card-making demonstration for the year on Friday February 10th.  The popular Marty Munro will be showing lots of ideas for special occasion cards, featuring Kaiser papers and cards from Regal.  You don't have to book and can come and go anytime between 10 and 3 on the day.

FISH THEMED CARDS

FISH CALENDAR CARD
It's just possible that during the holiday period a few folk might be fishing, so these cards seemed appropriate.  The first, as you can see, has a calendar attached so it can be used all year.

I started with a centre stepper card from Regal, and added lots of blue and green inks and stamped images (I like to think it looks better off-screen (?!)).  The images are from a Kaiser paper but you could stamp some as an alternative.

The second card also uses an image from the same sheet of paper but I've added a postcard picture and a piece of thread - this is a genuine 5 minute card.  The background is a silver single fold card in a DL size.
